sweet summer

i remember a summer long ago. a lazy summer, spent dreaming, lying on the beach, flirting with boys, long drives by the coast, swingsets and pizza. i remember three girls, now women, who shared a lifetime of jokes, secrets, laughter, tears all compacted in a span of three short months. we felt so alive that summer, and lived and loved with such open hearts as only an innocent seventeen year old can.

like many things in life, that summer came and went much too quickly. we have since all gone our separate ways, forging our own distinct paths through the world. i often think of that summer though. and about those lovely ladies who taught me so much about how beautiful friendship can be.

and i smile.

gone are the "nantucket red", (aka PINK) shorts of summer. argyle has made it's comeback to new england! i guess it's time to admit it's officially fall.

it's hard to tell but t his guy was spazzing out in the subway station. (central square of course). sure, some might call it dancing, but i know the truth. he forgot to take his lithium and is on the fast track to becoming our next crazy house applicant.

**********************************************************************************

what? WHAT?!? kayleigh are you seeing this?? there is someone SLEEPING in public- on the train no less!, and they are NOT ASIAN!! WHAT is going on with the world?!??

thank you, bathroom at south station, for providing some encouraging words to me last thursday night. it's such a sweet message, i can almost forgive the author for using 'your' instead of 'you're'....eh, who am i kidding. the message is sappy and the author is an idiot.

it's kinda unnecessary to write a caption for this photo, except i'd like to say that i did NOT purchase this book, even though it was ONLY five dollars. also, i don't need 23 psychological techniques to use on boys, i already have two great techniques. they're called boobs.

happy monday everyone!

you have been invited to...

your show falls on the one sunday i've had off in months. i love when irony bites me on the ass. i hate that i still get invites to your shows. i hate that you haven't taken me off the email list. as i recall, it's not a long list. there must be an 'unsubscribe' button i can click somewhere. i haven't looked. i should change my e mail address. i haven't. i know i won't be going to the show. i won't. really. i won't. but still, i can see it.

i know exactly how you'll hang your pieces. size, color, age. i know you'll wear your favorite shoes, the brown ones with green paint on the left toe. i wonder if you'll put up the drawing of the tub with the candle in the corner. we watched that candle burn all the way down to a stump. i wonder if you ever ended up painting it.

it's been far too long for me to have these thoughts. i know this. most days i only hear just a whisper of you. it'll be in the brightness of a color that you would have loved, the way the water flows under the bridge, or in the heat of a latte from our place. most days i can ignore it. but sometimes it jerks me from reality and sends me hurtling back, face first, to another place and time, when the world was ours.

too-funny-to-be-wordless wednesday

i watched this twosome on the red line this evening on my way home from class. i couldn't figure out if they were friends, mother and son, or on a date. their conversation ranged from the red sox, to his muscles, to her sewing. hm. i just couldn't bear posting these photos without a bit of added commentary :)

he says, 'hey check out my bicep, heh heh...' as she stares on in awe.

'gasp! i've never seen one soooo BIG before!!' (that's what she said. literally)

her: 'wow, uh, i'm so turned on by your bicep...i'll just touch you casually here on the shoe and see if you respond to my advances'

him: 'hey hey hey, hands off the sneakers, grandma!'

her: 'oh! i'm so embarassed!!'

her: 'i've got to try again...maybe i'll just stroke him here, on the calf...'

her: 'ok he's not turning me away,....guess i'll rub his leg a little more'
him: 'what time is it? can i go now?'

him: 'soooo, well... this is my stop (thank god!), guess i'll see ya later'
her: 'wait, you're getting off here? where are you going? don't leave me!!'

her: 'quick! gotta grab my bag and chase him down!'
random observer: 'they're finally gone. now i can sit here with my sweatshirt tied around my waist in peace.'

around town

i not so secretly love taking photos of random people doing weird things. i also love capturing any sign/ad/slogan with any kind of humorous phrase or sexual innuendo. it's one of my special talents. this stuff seems to just pop out to me everywhere i go. so my new thing on mondays is going to be to post the stuff i've been seeing so we can all get a laugh to start out our week. here's just a few things from the past couple of days...

that's NOT what she said?

*************************************************************************************

here's a happy couple and their baby on a sunday morning. what that actually means is, 'here's an extremely disheveled, mismatched couple and their whack baby who was screaming for the entire 20 minute ride from davis to park st.' yes, i said whack. what this picture doesn't tell you is that before the wife was wearing the sweater, the husband had it on preppy-style around his neck. this picture also doesn't show mom's bright pink scrunchie. i mean no judgement by these statements. i'm all for expressing your personal style. i just think you need to actually get some style first.
*************************************************************************************

my life. lately.

on that note...how long is it appropriate to say 'hey, it's my birthday!' to justify your actions... 0:)
*************************************************************************************

this is my favorite pic of the week. usually i like to snap photos on the sly but this gal was on the move so i actually stopped her and asked for a picture of her shirt. luckily, she was super cool. she did mention that she was vegan and wanted to make sure she wasn't going to end up supporting something crazy by allowing me to take her photos. don't worry sweetie, no haters here! i won't judge you for eating your body weight in sprouts every day, and thank you for not judging my leather purse and boots. most of all, thanks for allowing me to take this fabulous picture of your boobs.

side note- supporting my bush is one of my favorite pastimes.

happy monday everyone!

holy fall?!

school started up again, went to new york, turned twenty SEVEN (shit), turned around, and BAM! it's fall.

i love fall. especially in new england. the air gets just crisp enough to wear a sweatshirt, you can smell fireplaces in the distance, wedding season ends, the people crowding the sidewalks with maps start to diminish.

i get to start using pumpkin in my desserts again. (seriously, i've been looking forward to this since last december). i start making soups for dinner, with the awesome dinner-in-a-pumpkin to soon follow. messy kids show up at the front door begging for candy.

the leaves turn colors. we roast marshmallows. it starts to snow. your feet get wet. you slip on the ice. you have to shovel.

damn.
