father's day

live and let live.

it's something he always said. i suppose i'm still learning how. he read to me every night when i was little. we took special trips to the library every week on our bikes to load up on reading material. we'd stop at burger king for lunch on the way back. he'd take me fishing, and bait my hook when i was too scared to touch the worm. he came to every softball game and cheered me on even as i struck out and sat on the bench. he came to every football game, basketball game, and cheerleading competition to watch me perform, even when i was too cool to hang out with him. he drove up to bring me chicken noodle soup when i was sick in college. he helped me move apartments a billion times, even with my ridiculous overstuff couches that were so big we had to move them out the sliding glass window because they couldn't fit through a door. he took care of my sweet bella without hesitation, gave her gummy worms, and loved her like his own, and handed her back when i was ready.

we all make our mistakes, but i guess we just do the best we can. and looking back, i realize im lucky he did a great job.

happy father's day dad. i do miss you every day.
